This review is from: KOHLER K-10282-CP Forte Single-Function Showerhead, Polished Chrome (Tools & Home Improvement)
I love the Kohler rainshower showerhead. I've tried many different shower heads, always searching for the right one. Recently I stayed in a Marriott where this particular shower head had been installed in the bathroom, and I fell in love with it. There's a nice combination of pressure and coverage, just what I was looking for. I ordered one, and in my home the pressure wasn't quite what I remembered from the hotel. I figured it must be a combination of the water pressure in my home and the flow restrictor causing it to feel different. So here's how to take the restrictor out to make it better: Take out the screen and black gasket out from the stem. You'll see a green plastic device and a small black rubber ring; they appear to be integrated into the base of the showerhead and can't be removed. So what I did is use a common nail (I had some galvanized 10D 3 inch nails in the garage) and, using a hammer, gently punched a hole right into the center of the green plastic piece. Then, using... 5.0 out of 5 stars What I was Looking For, January 23, 2008

Very nice.

I wanted a rain shower head that wasn't ridiculously expensive, didn't dribble weakly, and, well, just felt great.

Nice combination of pressure, coverage, and gentle rain-shower feel. Very well-made and nicely priced.

Single function is fine with me---massagers and multiple shower settings go unused in my house.

I also own an "Aussie-Style" rain shower head that comes on a 10" extension arm. We like that one, too. Floods you with gentle water, and you can stand directly under it. This one has a little more "oomph", but is still gentle.

The pattern & nozzle style (tips are soft rubber for easy cleaning)on the Kohler Bancroft and Fairfax head look the same---just different cosmetically. 5.5" head w/ 72 nozzles that are well-spaced to cover your body.

This is the head I was looking for---a nice, wide gentle shower at a decent price.

To put this review in context, I purchased this to replace a temporary $5 shower head that I picked up from Lowes. It was a temporary solution, so I searched amazon for a good shower head with both style and function, to provide a nice luxurious shower experience. I decided to purchase this Kohler shower head based on pretty solid amazon reviews. I always read both positive and negative reviews, and this shower head really seemed like a winner. So I was quite surprised to discover that this $55 shower head was actually a major step down from the $5 ugly one I've been using. The experience of this shower head can best be described as standing under a garden watering can, that's about to run out of water. The pressure is very weak and the streams are hair thin. I figured the flow reducer inside might be partly to blame, so I proceeded to take it out (which took 15 minutes in a tool shop, because unlike with most shower heads, the reducer in this one is really difficult to remove. It... Read more
