After reading the reviews I decided to go ahead and give it a shot. However, I ordered mine directly through the Sprite website(not on Amazon). My husband installed the filter quickly and with no problems at all. It did not come with plumbing tape so you will need to have some on hand when installing it. It would have been nice if they included the tape for as much money you pay. Also, the filter itself is pretty big....much bigger than I imagined by looking at the pictures. But I didn't mind as long as it worked good. The instructions tell you to turn the water all the way to hot to let the filter rinse itself for the first time you use it. The instructions were a little vague on this because I thought you had to turn it all the way to hot every single time you use the shower but I contacted Sprite directly and they said you only have to do this the... (Important for my diabetic skin!!) They are rated for 10,000 gallons. The filter in the housing can be replaced (a money saver). We replace it about every 6 months.My gripe is that it comes with teflon tape that is used to seal the connection and hubbie can never get it to not leak a bit. The plastic filter unit can crack over time (one of ours lasted about 1 1/2 years and the second about 4 years). The replacement filters should not be that expensive, in my opinion. No problem with the water pressure dropping very slightly. I hardly noticed it. |
