This review is from: Philips Pollenex Wall-Mount and Handheld Showerhead Set (Misc.) We've been using this showerhead for a month now. Once we tightened it there are no leaks. Good quality construction, great metal hose unlike those rubber ones that keep getting tangled. A good surprise was one of the settings almost shuts off the water which makes showering kids a lot easier. Drawbacks: I wish the hose was one foot longer but even with the current one I can still reach all the tub. The plastic holder that you install on the wall comes with silicon glue that came off after a few days. I have to find a solution to hanging that holder without driving screws into the tiles. Fairly easy to install, just use some plumbers tape on the threads and a pair of pliers to get it tight enough to stop leaking. That is the only thing I would change - it is totaly round and it needs to have some flat surfaces for the pliers to hang on to without damaging the chrome. But once it is up and running it is great. Excellent spray selection & water pressure on both heads and it is just sooo much better than my old shower head that I am amazed - and - Very happy. However, the person in charge of choosing the manufacturer or selecting what materials were used failed horribly. 36 days after we got it (6 days past the 30 day return policy ended), it popped off right in the middle of a shower. Yes, it did, and yes it would scare you too. The reason is simple. The plastic threaded ring that attaches the tube/hose to the water supply cracked and split. At first, I thought it just somehow came unscrewed. I picked it up and screwed it back on. As soon as I tuned the water on, the pressure 'spread' the threaded ring and the entire thing shot off on to the shower floor. Sorry, there is no way around it. This $60 product is a total failure, because a .50 cent plastic part should have been a $2 metal part. I would not consider a replacement. I just want money back. Wish me luck, as the 'partial return' policy is subjective. There is no telling... I asked if she read the reviews on Amazon and she again said no. I told her she would find my negative one along with others who had the same problem. Oh yeah, the lifetime warranty doesn't cover shipping a piece of 25 cent plastic. I get to pay $5.95 for that. I would not recommend this poorly designed product to anyone. I turned on the water, pulled up on the flow diverter on the faucet and everything seemed fine. I tried all the different push button options, and turned the shower head from the vertical to the horizontal position. The water pressure coming out of the showerhead was ok, but not impressive. Then I noticed water leaking up around the plastic pipe connections. I went through every joint, adding the silicone wrap to ALL the threads, and tightening slightly (I know enough not to overdo it...). Next time I turned the water on the large plastic ring (with the metal ball joint inside), split. Not to be deterred (because I HATE having to return items), I tried 'tommy-taping' everything, to no avail. If you order one of these, make sure all your connections are metal, and not just metal-painted plastic. The plastic parts obviously don't stand up to the back pressure and you will wind up squandering your... I liked the toggle option to switch between the raining mode and the stronger center spray. Unfortunately the toggle and the showerhead housing are flimsy. I pressed the toggle button in too far and it cracked the entire housing, which caused water to spray out of both the showerhead and the showerhead base. I switched to a Delta stainless steel raining showerhead and I like it far more. Very easy installation; it takes less than 5 minutes. The rain mode is great for showering and the power mode rinses your hair. I read that a previous reviewer had a problem with switching modes and the water coming coming out half-and-half. I had a similar problem on my second showerhead after a few months and WaterPik had *excellent* customer service. Normally you are lucky even for companies to acknowledge you. WaterPik returned my web inquiry with a phone call and sent me a replacement at no charge. I'd happily buy from WaterPik again. Here's a summary of my thoughts after ownership: Pros: - Very easy installation. Compared to other shower heads I've installed, this was one of the easiest considering its bulky design. - Rain effect is relaxing, but not too impressive. Cons: - Flexible arm does not hold the heavy shower head in position after about 6 months of normal use. Repeated adjusting may damage the plastic mounting. - Rain effect does not rinse soap off very well while showering. The second setting helps with this, but produces more of an uncomfortable sharp needle effect. Overall: Shop around for a better model this one has some quality issues.
